Here's another anime I decided to watch. It's another love story that my cousin recommended.
Anyway here's my fourth anime review!

Synopsis:

Hikari Hanazono has always been second to Kei Takishima. When they were six years old, their pro-wrestling loving fathers introduced them to each other. Assuming that she was the best in wrestling, young Hikari challenged Kei to a wrestling match only to be thoroughly defeated by him.

Ever since that fateful incident, Hikari swore to beat Kei in school grades, sporting events - anything. To do this, she has enrolled in the same school as Kei since elementary. Now she attends Hakusenkan, an ultra elite school, that costs her carpenter father a lot of money.

Hikari and Kei are the top two students in the school, with Kei holding firmly to that number one position. While Hikari considers Kei to be a rival and important friend, she is completely unaware that Kei loves her. The story primarily focuses on Hikari and her constant attempts to defeat her one and only rival, Kei, and how she finds love in their rivalry.

Story: 7 out of 10

The story wasn't really original (it was kind of like Kaichou wa Maid-sama!) but what makes it stand out that we are given more than one love story, it didn't just focused on Hikari and Kei but it focused of all the members of the S.A (Ryuu had a love interest in the manga). The story also showed us that even though they may be rich and talented, they also have problems like normal people do.
Another thing that I like about S.A is that it's hilariously funny! I loved how Akira and Tadashi would always fight, Hikari's attempts to beat Kei, Ryuu's animals and how "Superhuman-like" Hikari and Kei is.
The story was really refreshing.

Animation: 7 out of 10

The animation was good. The only problem I had was how long their legs were. I loved the romance scenes with the pastel-like color scheme that was employed, it really enhanced the scenes.

Music: 6 out of 10

The first opening song was okay although, it would get a bit annoying sometimes. The ending song was okay.
The second opening was much better than the first one, while the ending song was pretty catchy and cute.
I liked how all of the songs were performed by the cast.
The background music was good, it fits in most of the scenes.

Characters: 8 out of 10

I liked how each member of the S.A were given a specific trait that made them stand out. Although, there should have been much more back stories (More on Sakura, Ryuu, Megumi and Jun) but all in all the characters were good.

Here are the characters in Special A:

Hanazono Hikari

Hikari is one of the main protagonists in the story. She holds the 2nd position in school for having the best grades. Because of that, she made Kei Takishima as her rival because he holds the 1st position. She is also called "Miss Rank 2" by Kei.

What I Think about the Character:
Hikari reminds me of Misaki (From Maid-sama) because of they're appearances.
I find it annoying that hasn't realized Kei's true feelings, in the end, she even refers to him as not "the person she likes" but "eternal rival". In the manga, she didn't even accept his proposal because she thinks when she says "yes" she'll lose and when she says "no" Kei loses.
I think they're love stories a bit too complicated because of Hikari wanting to beat Kei. Well they did become engage so of course, a happy ending for them!

Takishima Kei

Kei is one of the main protagonists in the series. He is ranked 1st
in the entire school which is why he has the habit of calling Hikari
"Miss Rank 2". He is the son of the CEO of Takishima Corporation, making him next in line for the company. He is Hikari Hanazono's undefeated rival.

What I Think about the Character:
He isn't as good-looking as I thought.... but he reminds me of Usui a little.
I wished Kei told Hikari about his feelings sooner... because it became a little complicated.
I'm not that much into them at all, my favorite pair has got to be Megumi and Yahiro!

Toudou Akira

She is a member of the Special A and is ranked 6th in the school and is often the one who cooks for all the members, introducing them to various snacks and teas. She is the daughter of an airline company president and is childhood friends with Kei Takishima and Yahiro Saiga.

What I Think about the Character:
Akira is so beautiful! She's so elegant except when she fights Tadashi!
Tadashi and Akira are my second favorite pair.

Karino Tadashi

Tadashi Karino is ranked 5th in school. His mother, a fierce and intimidating woman, is the director of the school and the primary reason why he is in the SA.

What I Think about the Character:
He's so cute! I love Akira and Tadashi's love story!!!!

Tsuuji Ryuu

Ryuu holds the 7th position in school, although his scores are a poor reflection of his intellectual prowess. He is in 7th place mainly because of the twins - Megumi tends to fall asleep and Jun becomes bored during tests, which results in Ryuu focusing his attention on them instead of his own exam. This is proven in an anime episode, when he answers 1000 questions in 10 minutes, and manages to achieve full marks. He is the son of a CEO sports company.

What I Think about the Character:
I love how he brings so many animals to school! It's too bad he didn't end up with someone in the end but in the manga he did found his love interest (a girl named "Finn"), I wished that his love story was also in the anime... too bad.

Yamamoto Megumi

Megumi is the older twin sister of Jun. She is the daughter of a famous violinist and music producer and shares her brother's love of music. Megumi refuses to speak so as to preserve her singing voice and writes what she wishes for people to know on a sketchpad. When she sings, her voice is so devastatingly powerful at a close range that everyone who stands near ends up dazed and disoriented afterward.

What I Think about the Character:
I love Megumi! I love how Yahiro and Megumi fell in love with each other through Music!
I love her voice!!!

Saiga Yahiro

Yahiro attends Kokusen Academy, another high school. but it is revealed that he originally studied in Hakusenkan, only to be expelled by Sumire Karino, Tadashi's mother. He is the heir to the SaigaFinancial Group, a group that is even higher in status than the Takishima Group. He is often seen, both in anime and manga, with Sakura, arranging parties and events. Yahiro often helps with the group's problems, seen in the time when Hikari was stuck in Aoi's villa, his helicopter was used to rescue her.

What I Think about the Character:
I love how he cares for Akira so much! I love how he would comfort Megumi (especially when he helped her sing at the end of the episode!), I just love Megumi and Yahiro!

Yamamoto Jun

Jun is ranked number 3 in the SA. He is Megumi's younger twin brother. He is also the son of a music producer and a famous singer. He loves music very much, even though he is not very good at it.

What I Think about the Character:
I like how he has this "inner jun". I find him and his love story very cute!

Ushikubo Sakura

Sakura Ushikubo is the heiress to the Ushikubo Medical Manufacturing Group, just like most of the characters. She is Kei's first omiai partner, but later becomes romantically involved with Jun. She is also good friends with Yahiro Saiga, for they both go to the same school, Kokusen Academy.

What I Think about the Character:
She is one of the girls, I love in the series! She's really cute, and I like how she and Akira are so good friends to her (both of them are even under Inner Jun's spell!).

All in all I rate it a 7.5 out of 10!
What made it stand out was the different personality of each character and how we are given more than one love story. This anime was one of the most refreshing and unique romance anime I've seen.
Do I recommend it? Yes! If you're really into a shojo romcom animes, I definitely recommend this!
If you're into romance, then you might like this because they're are more than one love story in it!

Anime Review: Special A

Posted by Mizuiro
Here's another anime review! I decided to watch this since it was pretty popular (and now I love it!) and besides I found Asuna and Kirito's love story pretty kawaii... anyway here's sword art online:

Synopsis:

In the near future, a Virtual Reality Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (VRMMORPG) called Sword Art Online has been released where players control their avatars with their bodies using a piece of technology called Nerve Gear. One day, players discover they cannot log out, as the game creator is holding them captive unless they reach the 100th floor of the game's tower and defeat the final boss. However, if they die in the game, they die in real life. Their struggle for survival starts now...

Story: 7 out of 10

Not really original. They're are a lot of anime's like this (like Btoom!) but I do like quests and how Kirito goes to many games besides SAO. And I find the story line in ALO great (it was so romantic how Kirito saved Asuna!). But I do hope they show the characters' past more, I wanna find out more about them.
The love story was okay, it was really cute.

Animation: 8 out of 10

The animation was great, for some reason it reminded me of Another...
Although, For a great anime like this I was hoping for a better animation (maybe like Fate Zero?) but I guess the animation is already okay.

Music: 10 out of 10

I love the opening and ending songs! The music fits all the scenes (especially the fighting scenes).
I love how we get to see a glimpse of the story in the opening and how calm the ending song were.
Can't wait to hear the opening song for Season 2!

Characters: 6 out of 10

The characters were okay, but I wished they would show the other pasts of the other characters.
The other characters were almost there just to support the main characters or they were just there for the love story (Liz, Silica) but I hope we get to know more about them in the next season.

Here are the characters of Sword Art Online:

Kirigaya Kazuto "Kirito"

Kirito is someone who is not good with words, as said by Klein, and can be quite direct. This is due to him not having many friends and closing others off, because of his love for computers. As such, he can come off as a rude person to others, such as Lisbeth and Sinon. Sometimes, he actually seems to enjoy angering and teasing people as well. Also, from time to time, Kirito can be quite overconfident thinking he can do things others can not.

What I think about the character:
He makes a good match with Asuna so much! I love how both of them fight so well!

Yuuki Asuna

Asuna is a kind and helpful young woman who, similar to Kirito, cannot abandon another in trouble. She takes the game very seriously and is very focused on clearing it before Kirito tells her to enjoy SAO a bit. Asuna is also somewhat proud and is not afraid to get physical with those that challenge her authority or brag about her abilities such as cooking. She even challenged Kirito to a duel after an argument over how to handle a Field Boss. She isn't afraid to act out on her own and will take matters in her own hands from time to time.

What I think about the character:
Asuna is so gorgeous! She's so perfect for Kirito (besides Sachi)! Despite being a girl, she's really great when it comes to video games and she's a really great cook!

Kirigaya Suguha "Leafa"

Unlike her cousin Kazuto, Suguha is upbeat and outgoing. She is much more social and converses easily with others. Even when Kazuto began to push her away after finding out they weren't really siblings, she still treated him with good spirits and tried to get back in his life. She can be very aggressive towards those that annoy her or cross her and can easily lose her temper.

What I think about the character:
I think she's one of the most cute characters in SAO. I like how she's so caring for her cousin/brother and how she helps his brother to find Asuna, despite having feelings for him also.

Andrew Gilbert Mills "Agil"

Agil is a friendly and very helpful person who is always looking out for others. He is also someone to rely on such as when he defended the beta testers against Kibaou, giving Kirito a place to stay, and helping players on lower floors. He also can be a leader on the battlefield and will help his comrades and friends no matter what the cost may be. Although he acted as if he only cared about the money, Kirito commented that Agil had spent all of his money helping mid-level players level up.

What I Think about the character:
He's very helpful... that's it.

Tsuboi Ryoutarou "Klein"

Klein is one of the friendliest people in the series and sets the mood when he's around. He never holds grudges against others and is always ready to lend a helping hand. He cares deeply for his friends and always wants to be by their side fighting alongside them when they are in danger .

What I Think about the character:
I have nothing to say about him... he's pretty okay.

Shinozaki Rika "Lisbeth"

Lisbeth is a very friendly person that can get along with just about everyone she meets. She is hardworking and takes great pride in her abilities as a blacksmith. She will become very defensive and aggressive if someone were to challenge her pride as a blacksmith much like Kirito did after accidentally breaking the best sword she had created. She has a bad temper and can get somewhat violent, such as when she grabbed Kirito by the collar after he broke one of her best swords.

What I think about the character:
I think it was pretty sad when she found out about Asuna and Kirito and she was crying, she was one of the few people who cared for him. Oh and she looks much cuter with brown hair (^_^)

Ayano Keiko "Silica"

In SAO, Silica became the first player to tame a Feathery Dragon, which she named Pina (the same name as her cat in the real world), despite SAO being the first VRMMO she's ever played. She is introduced as a character whose parties treat her as a mascot and is immensely popular on the middle floors due to her pet and her status as one of the rare Beast Tamers.

What I Think about the character:
She's so kawaii! <3

Yui
As Yui was originally a girl without her memories, she felt insecure about not knowing who or where her "parents" were, so she assumed that Kirito was her father and Asuna was her mother. After the couple decides to play along as the girl's parents due to the girl's psychological condition, she begins to be very cheerful and shows great affection for her so-called "parents". According to Asuna, her behavior was like that of a baby, despite her young appearance. However she does not show any fear, regardless of the kind of danger she might be in and even shows signs of rebellion when Kirito tells her that she has to stay with Sasha when Kirito and Asuna wanted to go to a dungeon to rescue Thinker.

What I Think about the character:
If Kirito and Asuna had a real baby it would probably look like Yui.

Kayaba Akihiko "Heathcliff"

he is the development director and GM (Game Master) of Sword Art Online. He is also the designer of the NerveGear, the Cardinal System, and The Seed, as well as the main antagonist of the Aincrad Arc
He plays SAO as the leader of the Knights of the Blood.

What I think about the character:
He's a genius for creating a VMMORPG, I wish there was one in real life... without the being stuck in the game and everything.

Sugou Nobuyuki "Fairy King Oberon"

he is the former director of the research institute of RECTO Progress Inc. He was Fairy King Oberon, the main antagonist of the Fairy Dance Arc. He is also Asuna's ex-fiance.

What I think about the character:
He's such a maniac.... he's such a pervert! He should be thankful that Kirito didn't kill him despite what he did to Asuna!

All in all I rate this anime an 8.5 out of 10!
I love the story, I love how thrilling the fighting scenes are, I love how they also make me laugh despite being in a death game and I love how simple the love story is. I can't wait for Season 2!
Do I reccomend it? Yes, maybe for ages 15+ because there are a lot of fighting scenes, fan service and mature scenes (especially in episode 24). I reccomend this to those who love fantasy and action animes, I specially reccomend this to gamer otakus!

Sunday, May 4, 2014
I'm so sorry that I forgot to post anything new here! Anyway, here's my second anime review.

Kyaaaaa! Misaki and Usui look so cute together!!!! <3
Plot:

Seika High School, once an all-boys school notorious for its wild students and for generally being a terrifying place for girls, has recently become a co-ed school. With the female population still a minority and living in fear of the over-the-top antics of the males, Misaki Ayuzawa takes it into her own hands to reform the school and allow the girls to feel safe in the rough environment.

Training, studying and even becoming the first female student council president of the school, Misaki has gained a reputation among the male students body as an uptight boy-hating dictator and as a shining hope for the teachers and fellow female students. However, despite her tough-as-nails appearance, she secretly works part-time at a maid cafe in order to support her family. Unfortunately, her hard-earned reputation is threatened when the popular, attractive, and somewhat impassive Usui Takumi takes an interest in her after discovering her in a maid uniform after school.

Story: 6 out of 10

The story was okay. Although I wished they could have explained more about the characters' life, like Misaki we don't why their father left them or Usui, I don't why she likes Misaki (It's like Usui just barged in to Misaki's life all of a sudden!). I also wished that they continued this anime, in the manga Usui and Misaki got married and everybody knew of Misaki's secret already.
The love story was great, I admit when I was watching this I would scream or go like "kyaaaaa!" or something like that. One thing that I loved about the anime is that it really made me laugh! There was no episode that wasn't hilarious!
When it comes to the originality of the story, it's okay. It's the usual girl who has a secret and boy meets girl kinda story.

Animation: 8 out of 10

The animation was great! Although, I wish there was much more effort when they animated the Moron trio, they were only animated in a some-what chibi form.

Music: 7 out of 10 (Something new I added in my review!)

The opening song was catchy! After every episode, I would always listen to the opening again and again!
The ending song was okay.... that's about it.
The music in the story was okay too. So yup, that's about it.

Characters: 8 out of 10

Each character has a certain personality that makes them great like Misaki who's hardworking and likes to tire herself. One of the most interesting characters would be Honoko and Aoi, I just find Honoka's split personality interesting and Aoi's love for girly things interesting.

Here are some of the characters in Maid-sama:

(Note: I added what I thought about the characters)

Ayuzawa Misaki (Female Protagonist)

She is the Student Council President of
Seika High School who secretly works part-time as a
maid in Maid Latte. She is Usui Takumi's love interest.

What I think about the character:
I think she's gorgeous! I like how she's so hardworking
and how she has some sort of Tsundere personality.

Usui Takumi (Male Protagonist)

He is the most popular, smart and athletic boy in Seika High.
He is Ayuzawa Misaki's love interest.
He is also known as a "Perverted Alien" by Misaki.

What I Think about the character:
I found how protective he is of Misaki cute.
I like how he and Misaki look so cute together!

Igarashi Tora

He is the heir to the Igarashi Group and is
the Student President of Miyabigaoka High.

What I think about the character:
He's such a pervert.... that's it.
Shintani Hinata

He is a childhood friend of Misaki, who has transferred
to Seika High to search for her. He is also Usui's rival
and an old friend of Suzuna Ayuzawa.

What I think about the character:
I like him more than Usui....
Sakura Hanazono

She is a friend of Misaki and Shizuko.
She is Sakurai Kuga's love interest.

What I think about the character:
I find her very cute and funny.
Shizuko Kaga

She is friends with Misaki and the best friend of Sakura.

What I think about the character:
I find it hilarious when she gets mad!
Yukimura Shoichiro

He is the Vice President of the Student Council.
He is also Misak's most trustable person to do
Student Council work when she's gone.
He is also Kano Sotaro's best friend.

What I think about the Character:
I find him very girlish (like blushing when he saw Usui... LOL)

Kano Sotaro

He used to be afraid of girls because of his childhood.
He is also known to use hypnotism.
He is also Yukimura's best friend.

What I think about the character:
I like how his personality changed after hanging out
with Yukimura.

 Aoi Hyodo

He is the nephew of Satsuki.
He is a professional cross-dresser.
What I think about the character:
"She's" so cute! <3
Satsuki Hyodo

She is the owner of Maid Latte and is the aunt of Aoi.
What I think about the character:
I like how very cheerful she is, and I think she's one
of the characters who's background is not known.
The Moron Trio
Misaki's biggest fans. They're students of Seika High.
What I think about the character:
Why can't they be drawn normally?!

I rate this anime a 6 out of 10! There wasn't anything in the story that really stands out but it was enjoyable watching it. I love the love story that every episode I would go all "kyaaaaa!!!" and it really made me laugh.
Do I reccomend it? I recommend it to those who love love stories and comedy animes.
Please look forward to my next anime reviews!

Welcome to Anime-OtakuZone! This blog will be all about anime and that includes anime reviews.
My first anime review will be about the mystery, horror anime, Another.

Plot:

In 1972, Misaki, a popular student of Yomiyama North Middle School's class 3-3, suddenly died partway through the school year. Devastated by the unexpected loss, the students and teachers behaved like Misaki was still alive, leading to a strange presence on the graduation photo. In Spring 1998, 15-year-old Kōichi Sakakibara transfers into Yomiyama's class 3-3, where he meets Mei Misaki, a strange student whom their classmates and teachers seemingly ignore. The class is soon caught up in a strange phenomenon, which somehow leads the students and their relatives die in mysterious, gruesome ways. Realizing that these deaths are related to the "Misaki of 1972", it is up to Kōichi and Mei to discover the cause of these mysterious deaths and figure out how to stop it before it kills them.

Story: 8 out of 10

I think the story's great since I really love mystery anime's although there are some anime's or any show that have a similar plot to Another which consists of a curse and a lot of people being killed by it.
What makes it unique is the curse itself and the story of the school.

Animation: 9 out of 10

I love the animation! PA Works did a great job on it considering the fact they also made Hanasaku Iroha, another anime I watch.

Characters: 6 out of 10

The characters are great although the minor characters looked like as if they were there so they could be killed by the curse. There was only a few details we know on some of the characters. The interesting character out of all the characters in Another would be Mei Misaki, the female protagonist.

Here are some of the characters in Another:

Koichi Sakakibara (Male Protagonist)

Kouichi is a 15 year old boy who is a transfer student from Tokyo. In Yomiyama he lives with his grandparents and his aunt, Reiko as his father works in India, he no longer has a mother as she died shortly after giving birth to Kouichi. Kouichi has a great curiosity to the events 26 years ago that made the class such as beset the fear of death.
He has a very curious personality and is determined to find out what happened 26 years before the main storyline. He and Mei became friends in later episodes, after the class decided to treat Kouichi as if he doesn't exist as well. He used to love running, something he was forced to give up after being diagnosed with Pneumothorax. Also, he is very friendly and sociable, making new friends since his first day at Yomiyama North Middle School. Kouichi is very determined and decided to resolve the mystery of the 9th grade class. He wants nothing more than to find out who the dead person is and stop the calamity. He is usually serious, but also funny when the moment calls for it.

Mei Misaki (Female Protagonist)

Mei is a beautiful and isolated girl in Yomiyama North Middle School's Class 3-3. She had a disease when she was about 4 years old so severe that she lost her left eye. Her mother made her a new green eye saying that the same shade would be boring. The reason she uses an eyepatch is because she dislikes that dual shade and hence decided to hide it. Her left eye can see the color of death.
Mei possesses a very quiet and solitary personality at first, telling Kouichi to stay away from her, but as time goes on, she becomes accustomed to his presence and doesn't seem to mind having him around. She also tells him to be careful, since 'it' (the curse) may have started already, indicating concern. Her hobby is drawing, and she is a member of the art club. Mei also dislikes cell phones, saying it disturbs her to be connected to other people at all times by electromagnetic waves.

Izumi Akazawa

Izumi is the straightforward, unabashed and strong leader of the Countermeasures at Yomiyama Middle School's 3rd year class. She has a bit of a tsundere personality. Izumi is impulsive and irascible, even though she puts on a show of being tough she is actually rather fragile and can be shown to have a tender side. She seems to hate Mei  and even goes as far as to blame her for the deaths of the students. She also seems to dislike Kouichi, until it was revealed near the end that she was fond of him.
She also is the head of countermeasures and later on becomes the Class Officer of Class 3-3 of 1998 atYomiyama North Middle School. She is in the drama club with Aya Ayano and Yumi Ogura. She has an older brother named Kazuma Akazawa.

Naoya Teshigawara

Teshigawara is usually superficial in nature. He is shown to have a sympathetic side, since he was the first one to talk to Kouichi, who was still not used to his surroundings. Naoya is very sociable, cheerful, energetic and is a sports lover. Teshigawara is a childhood friend of Kazami and a good friend of Yuuya, and in good terms with Kouichi. He cares about his friends. Naoya doesn't learn much at school, claiming that he doesn't know how he reached the 9th grade. Naoya is optimistic and always careless and carefree.
He is the class mood maker. Also he seems to have a crush on Izumi Akazawa

Yuuya Mochizuki

He is calm, innocent, patient, and usually quiet around strangers, but cheerful and sociable around his friends. Mochizuki is good friends with Naoya Teshigawara and becomes Sakakibara's first friend from Yomiyama North Middle School. Also, Mochizuki was in good terms withIkuo Takabayashi before he died.
He is one of the older members of the art club. Yuuya has an older half sister named Tomoka .

All in all I rate this anime 7 out of 10!
I love the story so much and i love the mystery too! Although there are a lot of gruesome deaths in the anime so if you don't like seeing a lot of blood, and brutal deaths I suggest you cover your eyes in those parts or don't watch it at all.
Do I recommend it? Yes! If you love mysteries then this anime will do, it will make your brain think who is the dead one and how the curse is being triggered. I also recommend it to those who love horror, even though it's not really horror I think this is fine.
Please look forward to more of my anime reviews!
